Epiphany Joy

Breakfast at my mother’s house was better than I expected and made me realize I missed my family. I wasn’t planning on moving back, but it did have me considering visiting. For the remainder of my visit, Avory stayed upstairs in her room and the rest of us just chilled, talked, and played games. I enjoyed myself so much that I went back to my room and passed straight out, which was why I was late getting to Kaciee and Nadia’s house for dinner; my ass ended up oversleeping.

When I entered their house, I expected some kind of bullshit since Kaciee didn’t know about Karisma. But what I never expected was to walk in and see Ace, especially not with some damn woman. Seeing him standing near some strange woman had me hot and jealous. I felt territorial over him, even though he wasn’t mine. The moment Ace asked was Karisma his, I felt the hate and envy radiating from her glare. I was hoping and praying that bitch said something stupid or jumped sideways so I could have a reason to hit her ass.

“Um, did I miss something here? How the hell could Karisma be your baby when this is y’all first time meeting, right?” Nadia confusedly asked.

“Hold up! Fuck all that! You knew Epiphany had a fucking baby and didn’t tell me?” Kaciee frowned.

What was supposed to be a peaceful and friendly dinner was turning into a disaster! The whole purpose of this dinner was to introduce Ace and I to one another and to celebrate us becoming a family. But instead, we were arguing and bumping heads. I understood that there were a lot of questions that needed answering, but this wasn’t the kind of energy I wanted around my daughter. Plus, I wasn’t comfortable with discussing my business in front of Ace’s bitch. She didn’t know me, and I didn’t know her, so she didn’t need to be in my business.

“Look, can we all just calm down, sit down, and talk like adults? All this arguing isn’t good for Karisma. She can sense the energy, and it will make her fussy,” I suggested.

Ace’s bitch took a step up by him and grabbed his hand. “Yeah, she’s right, you guys. This is something that needs to be discussed in a civilized manner. Maybe this is something that should be talked about in the living room.”

I frowned as I looked her up and down in disgust. Everything that she said was right, but her input wasn’t even needed. Unless she was his wife, then she shouldn’t even be talking right now. Hell, even if she was his wife, she still needed to shut her mouth because this had nothing to do with her. Last I checked, she didn’t play any part in how this child was created, and she wasn’t a part of my inner circle. I’d never needed a co-signer before, and I damn sure didn’t need one today.

“Bitch, who was talking to you? Last I
